Wend Video Guest Book

Your wedding story, told by the people who are part of it.

A wedding holds more stories than anyone could hear in one day. How the two of you got here. What your families remember. What your friends want you to know. Wend gives everyone an easy way to add their part before, during and after the wedding, and keeps it together with your own story.

Guests record with their own phones. With Wend Hosted, three rented tablet stations go to them. There is no app to download.

How it works

Every wedding story has a beginning, a middle and an end.

Wend starts before the wedding day, comes alive at the celebration, and stays open afterward for the people and moments you missed.

A couple on their couch recording their own story on a phone, the Our Story side of their keepsake frame on the table beside them
Before

Start with your story.

Tell how you met, the first date, the proposal, and the memories that brought you here. Then invite the people you most want to hear from to add theirs.

Four friends at a reception table lean in together to record a message on one phone
During

Hear the voices in the room.

Congratulations, old stories, laughter, group messages, and the things people think to say when everyone they love is together.

A couple at home on the couch watching a message from their parents play on the video frame
After

Catch what you missed. Keep it all.

Guests can still add messages and photos afterward. Then everything you collected comes together in one video you can watch again.

Before. During. After. One wedding story.

Before the wedding

The story starts before the wedding day.

Start with the two of you. Then think about the people whose voices you would never want missing from this story.

A couple at their kitchen table, laughing as they tell their story to a phone propped in front of them, the Our Story side of their keepsake frame beside them
Your story

Tell how you got here, in your own words.

Turn the keepsake frame around and the back is Our Story: prompts that help you remember the pieces. How you met, the first date, the proposal, and the moments that became your life together. You can start the day you book.

Grandparents on their sofa, smiling as they record a message together on a tablet station
The people you most want to hear from

Ask the questions you would never think to ask on the day.

Your parents, your grandparents, a brother or sister, the wedding party, your oldest friends. Put them on your list and each one gets a personal invitation in your names, and you can see who has recorded.

  • What was I like growing up?
  • When did you know we were serious?
  • What do you hope we remember about marriage?

Even when they can't be there

Someone who cannot travel is still part of it.

Put them on your list, or text them your page link, and they record from home. At a wedding this October, a grandmother who could not travel sent hers that morning.

The moments on the way

The moments on the way belong in the story too.

Keep the moments that meant something, and add the story behind them.

A couple walking their venue with their planner; in the corner, the same couple later, telling what the moment meant
Walking the venue

The first time you could picture the day.

Seeing where everyone will sit. Realizing, "This is where we're getting married." Save the moment, then tell what it meant.

A bride at her dress fitting with her mother; in the corner, the bride and her fiancé later, telling the story of that day
The dress

And the people who were there for it.

The photo keeps what it looked like. Your voice keeps how it felt.

A father standing to speak at the rehearsal dinner; in the corner, him later, telling what he meant to say
The night before

The rehearsal dinner.

A parent tells a story. A sibling makes everyone laugh. Someone says something you did not expect. Those moments can be part of the story too.

Add the photo, then add the voice behind it.

On the wedding day

Then the room fills in the story.

Your wedding brings together people who know different versions of you. Wend gives them an easy way to leave that part with you.

At a candlelit reception, a friend holds up her phone and invites three guests at their table to record a message
Someone says the word

A warm announcement.

Once everyone is settled, your planner, your DJ, the best man, or another familiar voice lets guests know the video guest book is there. The words are on a card in your kit.

Together

Nobody has to do it alone.

Grab the person next to you. Pull a few friends together. Say congratulations, share a memory, tell the story everyone still laughs about.

A friend goes to them

Someone who asks.

Ask one or two outgoing friends to invite the people you most want to hear from. A simple "Want to say congratulations?" can be all it takes. Your page has a helper link to text them, which turns their phone into the camera.

A stand on every guest table and a sign at the guest book table keep the way in within reach, with cards guests can take home. We can't make anyone record. We make it easy.

Your videographer films the day. Wend keeps the people.

Wend Hosted

With Wend Hosted, the recording goes to them.

Hosted adds three rented tablet stations. Use them for quieter conversations before the wedding, set them out while guests arrive, then hand them to friends who take them to the people you want to hear from.

Then pick it up

Once the reception gets going, a friend takes it from table to table. Wend goes to the guests, so nobody has to find it.

Three tablet stations are included with Wend Hosted. They are rentals: they arrive set up two weeks before the wedding and go back to us afterward in a prepaid box.

After the wedding

The wedding ends. The voices don't.

Your page stays open for the people who meant to, and everything you collected comes back to you in one place.

Every guest can take a card home. If the night got away from them, they can record when things are quiet again, and add their photos from the night.

Hear it all again

One video of everything.

About thirty days after the wedding, your story, the messages and the photos come together in one video, in the order they were recorded. Wend Hosted includes the video frame. With Wend Wedding you download the video, and the frame is optional at $99.

From real weddings

Built around what gets people recording.

What we have seen so far: more people record when someone asks them, and a warm announcement gets it started. At one wedding the planner made the announcement herself, and told us that was when the messages started coming in. So every Wend kit includes an announcement card for whoever has the microphone, and your page has a helper link for the friends who will go and ask.

Good to know

Questions couples ask

Is this a video guest book?

Yes, and a little more. Like a video guest book, your guests leave messages with their own voices and faces. Wend also starts before the wedding with personal invitations to the people you most want to hear from, keeps going afterward with the cards your guests take home, and keeps it all together with your own story and the photos from the day.

What is the difference between the two packages?

Wend Wedding is everything printed for your wedding: the keepsake frame, the stands, the signs, and the cards, with your page and your list. Guests use their own phones. Wend Hosted adds three tablet stations, rented for your wedding, that arrive ready to use, so guests can record on them without scanning a code or using their own phone. Before the wedding you use them to interview the people closest to you. On the day they start as stations, and then friends you choose carry them from guest to guest. They go back to us afterward. It also adds a video frame that plays everything you collected, which you keep.

We already have a videographer. Is this the same thing?

No, and they go well together. Your videographer films the day: the ceremony, the speeches, the first dance. Wend keeps the people: what your family, your friends, and the ones who could not come wanted to say to you, in their own words.

How many of our guests will record?

We can't promise a number, and we would not trust anyone who did. What we have seen so far is that few guests stop at a sign on their own, and that more record when someone asks them. So start with the people you most want to hear from: put them on your list, or ask them yourselves. On the day, have a friend walk around inviting people, and have it announced once. The signs and the card guests take home give everyone else an easy chance.

Do guests need an app?

No. They scan with the camera they already use and tap the link. They tap one button and start talking. Afterward they can add their name and email if they would like their own copy.

Do we get a video at the end?

Yes. About thirty days after the wedding, we put what was collected into one video, in the order it was recorded: your own story first, then the messages, each with the name of the person who left it, and the photos. Nothing is cut or rearranged. You can take out anything you do not want before it is made, and we show you what would be in it first. Add your own photos from the day to your page and they are in it too.

How do the tablet stations work?

The stations are rentals. Each rented station is a tablet with a screen of about nine inches, light enough to hold at arm's length, with a camera on the front and one on the back so a friend can record someone else. Its stand and charger are in the box. They arrive charged and set up for your wedding, and they come back to us afterward. Charge them the night before. A guest taps one button and records, and can add their name afterward. There are three things they can do: say congratulations, answer interview questions one at a time, or take a photo. On the day they start as stations where people wait. Once the reception gets going, friends you choose pick them up and take them to the guests, so nobody has to find one. The stations need Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. After the wedding, put them in the prepaid box and drop it off within five business days. A station that does not come back is charged at its replacement cost.

Who should carry the stations?

Choose a person for each station you want carried, and tell them before the day. Someone outgoing who knows a good number of your guests and will enjoy it: a cousin, a sibling, a friend who is not giving a speech. The job is small. Walk up, ask "Want to say congratulations?", record the message, and go on to the next person. A short card with each station tells them what to do. A station that is nobody's job tends to stay on the table. The stations are rented, so the same person sees theirs back into the box at the end of the night.

Who should we interview before the wedding?

The handful of people whose stories you most want to keep: your parents, your grandparents, a brother or sister, the friends who have known you longest, and each other. The rented stations arrive two weeks before the wedding and ask one question at a time, such as what you were like growing up, or when they knew the two of you were serious.

How do we reach the people we most want to hear from?

With your list. Add them one at a time, or bring in your guest list as a file, then tick the people you want us to invite. Each one gets a personal email in your names, with a question of your own if you like, and one reminder if they have not recorded. Your list shows who has opened their invitation and who has recorded. For anyone without email, copy their own link and text it to them. Nobody is contacted until you tick them.

When does everything arrive?

In two parts. Your starter kit ships within two business days of booking. Your stands, signs, and cards ship two weeks before your wedding, after we check your names, table count, and address with you about five weeks ahead. If your wedding is only a few weeks away, Wend Wedding ships complete within two business days.

What is the video frame?

A screen about ten inches across, for a shelf or a table, that plays the video of everything you collected. It arrives with your video already on it, and there is no app or subscription needed to watch it. It is a separate thing from the keepsake frame in your kit, which holds a printed card with your names and your code. The video frame is made about thirty days after the wedding, so that messages from the cards your guests took home are on it. It is included with Wend Hosted and optional with Wend Wedding at $99. More video frames, for parents or grandparents, are $99 each.

Can we put Wend on our wedding registry?

Yes. Many wedding registries let you add a gift from any website. Paste the link for the package you want: wend.marketfoundry.io/wend-wedding.html or wend.marketfoundry.io/wend-hosted.html. If the registry asks how you would like to receive it, choose the money toward it, so that you book it yourselves with your names and date. Add it early. Wend starts before the wedding, so it suits a shower registry well.

Can I give it as a gift?

Yes. Choose "A gift for a couple" when you reserve, and enter their names and wedding date. Add their email and we write to them with their own page and a private link to run it, or tell them yourself and pass the link on. Use the Presented by line for something like "A gift from Mom and Dad". Ship it to them or to you.

The details

Why does it come in two parts?

Your starter kit has what you use before the wedding: the keepsake frame with Our Story, a sheet of take-home cards to try, and a Start Here card. The stands and signs are printed for your final table count, with your names and date as you confirm them, so we send those two weeks before. Nothing is printed for a number that changes, and nothing sits in a closet getting bent or lost.

What if we don't know how many tables yet?

Tell us roughly. A stand for every guest table is included, and we print for your final count when we check in before the wedding. If the number moves by a few tables, there is nothing more to pay.

What if our date changes, or we need to cancel?

Moving your date costs nothing. Reply to your confirmation and we will change it, any time before the kit is printed. With Wend Hosted, the new date needs a set of stations to be open. If you cancel within 14 days of booking, you get a full refund. After that, and until the kit is printed about five weeks before the wedding, we refund all but $49, which covers your page and anything already sent to you. Once the kit is printed it has been made for you, and it cannot be refunded.

Can we pay over time?

Yes. At checkout you can choose Klarna, Affirm or Afterpay and spread the cost. They decide whether to approve it and on what terms. Your page opens the day you book, however you pay.

How long is it included?

Your package includes a year from the day you book, or until 90 days after your wedding, whichever is later, to keep your story growing in your archive: recording your own story, adding your photos, and filling in the pages of your book. Everything already recorded stays available to watch after that, and your guests can still add theirs from the cards they take home.

Is there anything to set up?

No. Your page is set up when you book, and every code is already printed for your wedding. Record a hello to yourselves the day the starter kit arrives and you'll know it works before the day.

Who decides what plays?

You do. Messages appear as your guests record them. You can remove any you do not want.

Your wedding will go by quickly. Keep the people who made it yours.

Start with your story. Hear from the people you love. Collect the moments along the way, the voices in the room, and the ones that arrive afterward. Your page opens the day you book, so the story can start now.
